Itinerary

 

Egypt Tours This combined course takes you from beginner to PADI Advanced Open Water Diver in the idyllic location of Dahab, on the Sinai Peninsula. Formerly a simple Bedouin settlement, Dahab is now a thriving mecca for divers from all over the world. Facing the Gulf of Aqaba, the diversity of marine life in the Red Sea is considered to be one of the world’s natural wonders. Day 1: Arrive in Sharm-el-Sheikh

We meet you in Sharm-el-Sheikh airport and transfer you to your hotel in Dahab (approx 1&1/2 hours). An extension to the Pyramids, Sphinx and Museum in Cairo is available if you wish.

Day 2: Dahab

We take you to the dive centre, Dahab Divers, this morning which is located in the Lighthouse area of Dahab where we will introduce you to the team there.They will go through the various components of the Open water course with you and then you will begin the course after this.

Day 3: Dahab

The PADI Open Water course consists of confined water training followed by 4 open water dives. The confined water training in Dahab is actually done in the sea in the shallow water in the Lighthouse area. it has a sloping sandy bottom making it perfect for training dives.

Day 4: Dahab

You continue to Day with the confined water training dives where you will learn to master a number of tasks which include mask clearing, out of air situations and controlled emergency ascents. There is also some theory to be completed in order to qualify as a PADI Open water scuba diver and this will be done in between dives with your instructor and also in the evenings after your Days diving.

Day 5: Dahab

You continue the course to Day with the open water dives which is where you now are able to go out and enjoy some of the other dive sites of Dahab. Some tasks will need to be done again whilst on the dives and your instructor will let you know before each dive which task he will ask you to complete.

Day 6: Dahab

This will be your last Day of diving to Day as 24 hours must be allowed after your last Day before you fly.You will now do your remaining 2 open water dives required in order to complete the course. You will also be required to do a final exam which you will need to pass in order to become a PADI Open Water Diver.

Day 7: Dahab

To Day is free for you to relax after the dive course or you have the option to Day to try out some of the other activities and options available in Dahab, such as the Jeep Safari to the Coloured Canyon or a Day tour to Petra in Jordan.

Day 8: Dahab

Your time is free to Day until we transfer you to Sharm-el-Sheikh airport in time for your flight home.

Tour description

We begin in Sharm el Sheikh, where you are met and then transferred to Dahab (we can also extend the tour to start & finish in Cairo, giving you the chance to see the pyramids & sphinx while in Egypt). Once in Dahab, we’ll introduce you to the staff at the Dive Centre.
The Open Water Course is conducted over a 5-day period and, successful completion leads to full entry-level certification to the world of Scuba diving.
The course itself is broken down into three sections.

 

Egypt ToursThese are: (a) confined water dives, of which you do 3, and which are Giant Clam at Rick's Reef, Dahab, Egyptusually done in a cordoned off beach area or a pool close to the beach (b) the theory section, which provides basic information and principles about diving, usually with the aid of videos along with a manual ( c) at least 2 Open Water dives under qualified supervision and guidance. The course is relaxed and designed to be a comprehensive learning experience to help you reach your goal of becoming a qualified diver.
You have a final free day in Dahab to either relax or treat yourself to a few extra dives.

Otional extras

Listed below is a selection of optional extras that can be added to your tour. Just select which options you want to add to your booking when you reserve your tour, or alternatively just let us know and we'll add them to your booking. Further options are also available when you get to Egypt (such as Sound & Light shows, dinner cruises, scuba-diving courses).

Single Room Supplement

If you are a single traveller, then you need to add this single room supplement option to your booking
(we do not share rooms on our diving tours). Triple rooms are available, so if you have an odd number of people in your party, you can choose whether you want to add this option or not. Please contact us if you have any queries about room allocations.

Day trip to Petra

This is a long but exciting and rewarding day trip from Dahab to the fabulous & colourful rock-carved city of Petra in Jordan. You leave Dahab very early (around 05.00am) and drive to Taba (approx. 3 hours) or a short 1-hour ferry to Aqaba in Jordan (no visa fee for most nationalities). Then it is another drive (approx. 1 1/2 hrs) into the mountains and the city of Petra. We include a half day inside the site, including a 2 1/2-hour guided tour, lunch, entrance fees, and some free time to walk up to the High Place of Sacrifice or the Monastery with its huge carved facade and stunning views over the Jordan valley. We then make the drive & ferry crossing back to Dahab, arriving late in the evening.
Note: The option price is based on doing this option on a sharing basis with other travellers not booked with us.
