This tour is aimed at people who are keen on completing both the PADI Open and Advanced Open Water Courses in one go. The diving is based in Dahab with its excellent shore-diving, and also includes time in Cairo at the start and end of the itinerary giving you the chance to see a little of what Egypt has to offer above ground as well as beneath the waves (also available without Cairo if preferred).

Itinerary

Egypt Tours This combined course takes you from beginner to PADI Advanced Open Water Diver in the idyllic location of Dahab, on the Sinai Peninsula. Formerly a simple Bedouin settlement, Dahab is now a thriving mecca for divers from all over the world. Facing the Gulf of Aqaba, the diversity of marine life in the Red Sea is considered to be one of the world’s natural wonders. Day 1: Arrive in Cairo

We meet you at Cairo airport and transfer you to a 4 star hotel (normally the Oasis Hotel). The rest of the day is free for you to settle in and relax.

Day 2: Cairo

We enjoy a full day tour today to the majestic Pyramids and Sphinx at Gisa, and also to the famous Egyptian Museum. In the evening we transfer to Dahab on the overnight coach.

Day 3: Dahab

After arriving in Dahab and checking into your hotel, we take you to the dive centre, Dahab Divers which is located in the Lighthouse area of Dahab where we will introduce you to the team there.They will go through the various components of the Open Water and Advanced courses with you and then you will begin the course after this.

Day 4: Dahab

The PADI Open Water course consists of confined water training followed by 4 open water dives. The confined water training in Dahab is actually done in the sea in the shallow water in the Lighthouse area. it has a sloping sandy bottom making it perfect for training dives.

Day 5: Dahab

You continue today with the confined water training dives where you will learn to master a number of tasks which include mask clearing, out of air situations and controlled emergency ascents. There is also some theory to be completed in order to qualify as a PADI Open water scuba diver and this will be done in between dives with your instructor and also in the evenings after your days diving.

Day 6: Dahab

You continue the course today with the open water dives which is where you now are able to go out and enjoy some of the other dive sites of Dahab. Some tasks will need to be done again whilst on the dives and your instructor will let you know before each dive which task he will ask you to complete.

Day 7: Dahab

You will now do your remaining 2 open water dives required in order to complete the course. You will also be required to do a final exam which you will need to pass in order to become a PADI Open Water Diver. Once you have completed your Open Water course the remainder of the day is free before starting the Advanced course tomorrow.

Day 8: Dahab

You start the Advanced Open Water Course today which consists of 5 speciality dives. There are two speciality dives which are compulsory and then the other 3 can be chosen by yourself and your instructor. The two dives which must be completed for the course are the underwater navigation dive and a deep water dive.

Day 9: Dahab

We continue with the Advanced Open water course today doing the dives that you and your instructor have chosen. There are a wide range of speciality dives you can chose to do from Underwater Naturalist to Night Diver.

Day 10: Dahab

Today will be the last day of the Advanced Open water course when you will do the remaining dives which have been chosen by yourself and your instructor. There is also a manual to accompany the course which you will need to read and also an exam to be successfully completed at the end.

Day 11: Dahab

You may need to finish any theory or dives today but after this the rest of your time in Dahab is free. You can arrange to do some extra dives with the dive centre as you will now be an Advanced Diver you can dive more of the dive sites of Dahab such as the Bells and the Canyon which are 30 metre dives and can only be done by advanced divers.

Day 12: Dahab

You have another free day today to do some more diving or you can try out some of the other activities and options available in Dahab, such as the Jeep Safari to the Coloured Canyon, quad biking or horse riding which can all be arranged locally. This evening we take the overnight coach back to Cairo.

Day 13: Cairo

After arriving in Cairo and checking into your hotel, we have a short city tour today to explore the mosque and museum at the Citadel, overlooking the city, and to wander around and possibly do some haggling and souvenir shopping in the busy Khan-el-Khalili bazaar. In the evening we include a sunset felucca ride on the Nile.

Day 14: Cairo

The tour ends today and your time is free until we transfer you to airport for your flight home. You can add extra nights in Cairo if you wish to explore the city further.

We begin the tour in Cairo, where you are met at the airport and then transferred to your hotel. While in Cairo we include a tour to the pyramids, sphinx and the Egyptian Museum to give you a taste of the ancient history and splendour that Egypt enjoys.
From Cairo, we take the overnight coach to Dahab, where we’ll introduce you to the PADI Instructors & Divemasters at the Dive Centre, who will handle your training and know the waters around Dahab well.

 

Egypt ToursThe Open Water Course is conducted over a 5-day period and, successful completion leads to full entry-level certification to the world The Pyramids at Gisaof Scuba diving. The course itself is broken down into three sections. These are: (a) confined water dives, of which you do 3, and which are usually done in a cordoned off beach area or a pool close to the beach (b) the theory section, which provides basic information and principles about diving, usually with the aid of videos along with a manual (c) at least 2 Open Water dives under qualified supervision and guidance.

The course is relaxed and designed to be a comprehensive learning experience to help you reach your first goal of becoming a qualified diver.
You then begin the Advanced Open Water Course. This course is conducted over a 3-day period, during which you will take 2 compulsory 'core' dives, plus 3 chosen optional Adventure Dives. Your Core dives will be a Deep Dive, and a Navigation Dive. Your optional 3 dives will be selected from the following: Boat Dive, Drift Dive, Wreck Dive, Night Dive, Underwater naturalist, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Search and Recovery. This course is designed to enhance your knowledge and awareness of recreational diving.

Egypt Tours

After the courses are complete, you have two free days in Dahab to either relax or treat yourself to a few extra dives. On your last night we Shoal of black spotted Grunt, Dahab, Egypttransfer you to Cairo on the overnight coach. The next day you do a full day tour of the city of Cairo, visiting the Citadel, mosques, and the Khan-el-Khalili bazaar.
In the evening we take you on a sunset felucca cruise on the Nile.
The tour ends the next morning, and we transfer you to Cairo airport for your departure. We can run the tour for you starting and finishing in Dahab if you prefer, missing our Cairo altogether.

Otional extras

Listed below is a selection of optional extras that can be added to your tour. Just select which options you want to add to your booking when you reserve your tour, or alternatively just let us know and we'll add them to your booking. Further options are also available when you get to Egypt (such as Sound & Light shows, dinner cruises, scuba-diving courses).

Day trip to Petra

This is a long but exciting and rewarding day trip from Dahab to the fabulous & colourful rock-carved city of Petra in Jordan. You leave Dahab very early (around 05.00am) and drive to Taba (approx. 3 hours) or a short 1-hour ferry to Aqaba in Jordan (no visa fee for most nationalities). Then it is another drive (approx. 1 1/2 hrs) into the mountains and the city of Petra. We include a half day inside the site, including a 2 1/2-hour guided tour, lunch, entrance fees, and some free time to walk up to the High Place of Sacrifice or the Monastery with its huge carved facade and stunning views over the Jordan valley. We then make the drive & ferry crossing back to Dahab, arriving late in the evening. Note: The option price is based on doing this option on a sharing basis with other travellers not booked with us.

Extra Night in Cairo pre-tour - 4-star

This option adds an extra night to the start of your tour, staying in the same hotel as the main tour itself (subject to availability at the time of booking). Your airport arrival transfer is still included.

Extra Night in Cairo post-tour - 3-star

This option adds an extra night in Cairo to the end of your tour, staying in a 3-star hotel. Your departure airport transfer is included. If you would like to add more than one extra night, please make a note when you make your reservation and we will add them to your booking.
